Y.O.P.E. is the project of bandleader, producer, bassist and composer Joop de Graaf. Known for his work with projects including Brintex Collective, Imaginarium, the Diana Dzhabbar Quartet and Dandana, De Graaf started Y.O.P.E. as an outlet for his own musical ideas: groove-driven beat music infused with futuristic electronica and experimental jazz.
At the heart of Y.O.P.E. is a constant exchange between tradition and innovation. Live instrumentation, improvisation and strong rhythmic foundations meet electronic textures and production, blurring the line between a live band and a club experience. Following the 2022 EP Lost but Here, released through Wicked Wax Music, Y.O.P.E. further developed this sound on debut album peer pleasure, exploring an electronic world built around danceable grooves, bass and drums.
In 2026, Y.O.P.E. joins forces with Avvnt MM, the project of Tommy van Leuken, whose music brings together avant-garde, jazz and electronics in a collision of flowing harmony and noise. Their collaborative album Music For Dog pushes both projects further into experimental territory, enveloping live music in a blanket of modern, futuristic sounds.
