‘Powerhouse vocalist’ Josh Island combines infectious melodies with introspective yet uplifting storytelling, shaped by the likes of Fink, Sting or Hozier. Starting out in tiny Luxembourg aged 15, he quickly made a name for himself with his engaging live shows, supporting renowned artists such as Passenger, James Morrison, Katie Melua, Clueso and Alec Benjamin, and performing at European festivals like Reeperbahn, Fengaros Cyprus, Kinnekswiss Loves and Sounds of Europe in Turkey.

Josh’s debut album In My Head, produced by Nelson Canoa (Sara Tavares, Carminho) in the vineyards of Torres Vedras north of Lisbon, received national airplay in the Benelux and GSA, and received over half a million streams across platforms. 

Quoted as 'the voice of Europe' by Rhein-Zeitung with his purpose to bring people together through music, Josh island challenges the walls we build—both physical and emotional—urging listeners to look inward and embrace a world with more empathy and understanding. 

Josh’s second studio album, Imaginary Borders, coming March 2026, was written amidst bandmates and family in Luxembourg, studio sanctuaries in Lisbon and Amsterdam, and the historical echoes of Athens. 

On Courage , the first single off his upcoming album, Josh explores the inner struggles we often hide. But rather dwell in the shadows, the song lifts its gaze towards hope, pairing emotional depth with soaring choruses that are equal parts vulnerable and uplifting. The second single Artemis is full of drama and poetry, inspired by the myths of the Greek goddess of the hunt: A hunter secretly admires her from afar as she bathes in the lake, only to be caught under her spell and transformed into a stag. A little tragic for sure – and perfect for a song.
